PARALYMPIC SPORTS
The Paralympic Games feature 28 officially sanctioned sports, including 22 for the Summer Paralympics and six for the Winter Paralympics. The most recent additions to the Summer Paralympics are badminton and taekwondo, both of which debuted at the Tokyo 2020 Games. In the Winter Paralympics, snowboarding is the newest sport, first introduced at the Sochi 2014 Games. These additions continue to expand opportunities for athletes with disabilities on the global stage.
There are currently 28 Paralympic sports sanctioned by the IPC: 22 summer and six winter.
